Skincare for the acne prone

Lately I have been very obsessed with the blogs IntoTheGloss by Emily Weiss and TheKlog by Charlotte Cho. They both have this philosophy if "skin first" where they both emphasize the importance of skincare. It is very very very very important to take care of your skin, not only because it is the base for your makeup, but because your face is the first thing that people see.

I am no expert on skincare but these are some products that got me through my teenage years that I still use everyday (keeping in mind that I do have combination and acne prone skin).

Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser
This cleanser is oil-free and it cleans your face without feeling stripped. I would work this into my skin and I love that it would leave my skin feeling extra soft. It is supposed to help reduce discoloration and is great for anyone who has sensitive/combination skin. This does contain soy extracts which is supposed to help clear any discoloration and salicylic acid to help keep your acne at bay. It is also hypoallergenic so it is great for all of you with sensitive skins out there. I have always repurchased this cleanser time after time but if you know any better cleansers, let me know!

St. Ives Green Tea Scrub

I have repurchased this over and over and nothing can replace this product because it is so cheap and effective. It has helped sped up the process of reducing the appearance of the acne scars on my face and contains salicylic acid to help prevent acne. This is a physical exfoliator which has fine beads to gently polish your skin without leaving your skin irritated. Just make sure to moisturize immediately after so skin can retain that moisture.

Mizon All In One Snail Repair Cream

This is a product I have been loving recently. It leaves your skin feeling matte all day and totally oil free. This is more of a gel consistency than a cream. It has a white jelly like appearance. The snail mucus extract is supposed to promote skin regeneration to prevent wrinkles and help acne scars heal.

The Face Shop Sebum Control Moisture Cream

This is another gel moisturizing cream and supposed to be uber moisturizing without leaving you oily. It is oil-free and is water based so it is best for someone who has oily to combination skin. This cream contains chia seed extract which is supposed to allow your skin hold moisture better therefore reduces sebum production. I really liked this product day or night because it leaves my skin feeling matte all day and it comes with a little spatula to reduce the amount of bacteria being introduced into the jar.

Shiseido Urban Environment UV Protection

This sunscreen has a SPF 42 and broad spectrum protection of PA+++ which is the highest level of UVA protection so this sunscreen protects you from both UVA and UVB rays. Although this does leave that annoying white cast like what most sunscreen does. I love that this sunscreen is a liquid sunscreen so it is easy to spread on your face and it leaves your skin matte all day without feeling oily (its oil free!) but it would not recommend this for someone who has dry skin. Sunscreen is important not only for protecting you from the sun's powerful ray (especially in California and its pollution) but also for preventing wrinkles and acne scars from prolonging.

Well this is it for now. If you know any products I should try out let me know!
